MAYBE NEXT YEAR...

Parts of New York City received more than a foot of snow this week, with blizzard-like conditions during much of the storm on Wednesday. So it wasn't a surprise that my flight from New York to Florida for the Miami Boat Show this week was canceled. I was very disappointed for two reasons: 1) I believe that it is important for me to get out there and mix with our customers, employees, and stay close to the business operations; and 2) I love the Miami Boat Show!

The Miami International Boat Show is billed as - and I believe it is - the greatest boat show in the world. Volvo Penta, our marine engine division, has a large presence in Miami this week where they are showcasing their gasoline and diesel powered marine propulsion systems, including Volvo Penta IPS. Truly a revolution in the marine industry, Volvo Penta IPS provides unequaled maneuverability with dramatically increased efficiency compared to inboard shafts. The secret behind Volvo Penta IPS's superiority lies in the unique pods, which feature forward-facing, counter-rotating propellers. To get an understanding of just how efficient this system is, click on the links below to watch some brief videos of the IPS system in action. As for me, I will have to watch the video this time as well and dream about a boat ride in sunny Miami. This week, reality is far different!
